Street College by Ghetto Genius is another component of STEM Illinois. Street College works with youth to build ventures relevant to their cultural experiences via STEM and art activities in north Champaign’s Douglass Park. The program attracts youth with interests in electrical and mechanical engineering, graphic art, sound engineering and design, robotics, and coding. Students may apply their STEM skills in the Carle Illinois College of Medicine Make-A-Thon and NAACP ACT-SO competition, for example. They will also create music using the Hip Hop Double Dutch Boom Bus, a mobile Engineering + Arts Lab.
