Oyindamola Teniola

Oyindamola is a 5th year student at the University of South Florida, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering.

While studying at USF, he began to work with Giving God the Glory (G3) Life Applications, a faith-based mentoring company. He supported the execution of engaging 6-week programs for a group of 120+ low-income, underrepresented minority grade school students, twice. Each segment allowed them to participate in a wide range of activities including coding, life skills, arts and crafts, financial literacy, athletics, mentoring, and photography. In November 2019, he proposed and designed a Health Innovation Ambassador program that would offer students more health exposure to rewrite their narrative. Over time, he gained appreciation for each and every child, and was able to see the positive effect that consistent exposure can have on a curious child. Oyindamola also want to make sure that grade school students develop the abilities that will help them avoid pitfalls that he fells into during my journey.

His current academic research engagement focuses on manipulating light, optics, and computations for clinical biophotonics and imaging. One of his current works involves using a low-cost optical system for laser phacoemulsification of cataracts. The bulk of his interests lie in medical technologies, individualized medicine, and compassionate healthcare. This summer, he is working as an Engineering Summer Intern at Medtronic, focusing on the development of an interlaboratory database for more efficient communication between Medtronic employees, and the development of a UV spectra database. His teammate and him co-founded LiveEDU, a gamification learning technique designed to aid patients and their families in discharge training and exit programs.

As a future physician, Oyindamola is investing in helping people through the creation of sustainable solutions for healthcare access
